Abstract

The aim of this review is to announce of synthetic form the conceptual development of the engagement. The origin of the engagement arises from a study based on the Burnout, as well as in to happen of his conceptual development (recent and three-dimensional) and his respective extension to other professions. The conceptualization of the engagement contemplates the notions of psychological positive, cognitive-affective condition and his respective dimensions vigor, absorption, and dedication. Being the vigor characterized by the presence of high places levels of energy, mental resistance, and desire to invest efforts in the work. The absorption is described as a condition of concentration and sensation of happiness in relation to the realized work. The dedication is composed of high implications, labor commitment and feelings significances of the work. The model Demand of Labor Resources (DRL), is exposed from his components: demands and labor resources, and his later extension: personal resources. Being the latter approached by his conceptual definition, the role that they fulfill and his dimensions. The engagement makes the organizations possible to possess suitable personnel, for the accomplishment of the tasks of the same ones and the achievement of the aims of the company.
