Abstract

The purpose of this article is to analyze from the perspective of the theory "X" and "Y" of Douglas McGregor, the management style of Universidad Peruana Unión. Thanks to the non-experimental exploratory descriptive design, a census sample was made up of 33 administrative and 31 operational controls from the Universidad Peruana Unión. The instrument used was that of Espinoza consisting of 10 pairs of statements. Among the results, it was found that in neither of the two groups is there any preference for the style of direction or theory "X". Likewise, it was observed both preferences for an intermediate position, as well as the management style or theory and significant differences between the administrative and operational controls. It highlights the fact that the largest number of people with technical training prefer an intermediate position, while the largest number of people with a graduate-level prefer the “Y” management style or theory.
